My Digital Legacy

Upon my passing, I would like to be used as compost for a tree, or other useful vegetation, preferably in a protected forest or another safeguarded open space in Puerto Rico.

As in most, if not all, of us, there will be a digital representation left behind of our personality, looks, preferences, beliefs, and thoughts.

Fortunately, I'm leaving an autobiographical book behind, A Fool's Journey, written by me, which provides a fairly accurate sketch of a substantial part of my life's path. In my book, I share my story from almost the beginning to a particular moment in time—the COVID lockdown of 2020.  This memoir sets the tone of who I am and how I've evolved from the past to the present with its highs and lows.

Should a digital representation of the afterlife be a future trend (extremely likely), an approximation of my continued evolution can be modeled by taking the data from my book and public interviews. Also, my years of posting on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest accounts should be revealing.

Accounts and anecdotes from my immediate family members, close friends, musicians I've worked with, clients, and staff members from Carli's, should also contribute to the modeling of a fairly accurate future profile. But please, not my neighbors, especially those with huge electric generators or those who block my driveway... Oh well, fair enough.

I must make clear that I would never, ever, in all eternity, sponsor or support any commercialism (as an exception, I wouldn't mind negotiating the endorsement of Steinway pianos, which I've played all my life). So, if I'm ever seen sponsoring a product after my natural death, que conste, it's not me. Commercialism would be against my living wishes—it would undoubtedly be a manipulation and exploitation of my image against my basic principles.

I am by no means close to perfection, and I must indeed still harbor numerous character flaws. But my concept of evolution stands in goodness, fairness, and contributing to the well-being of all living things, and nonetheless, ultimately striving for closeness with my most conceivable Godlike nature—whatever that may be. Essentially, the core of my manifesting is in defense of the helpless, those in oppression, and never the opposite.

The path I have chosen for this task is the arts. An ideal evolutionary digital representation of my being would be via all the arts in their most altruistic forms, including music, painting, poetry, writing, and any visual analog or digital medium of expression.

I am clearly opposed to commercialism and cashing in on people's ignorance and vulnerabilities. I am opposed to the exploitation of the weak in any form. I am opposed to favoring money over ethics, trust, and fairness, and I'm also opposed to capitalizing on the ignorance and the weakness of others. In addition, I don't support making our children so competitive that they pay with their health or happiness; I also see that as exploitation. I wouldn't even approve of my name or image being associated with the validation or promotion of any religion or cult.

My life has always been an open book, so it shouldn't be a difficult task extracting a fairly clear story for building a composite of my future digital legacy or imprint, at least on the surface, for I'm not referring here to the Akashic Records.

Still, as much as we may try being an open book, there are inner layers we all have where our deepest fears, hopes, and most bizarre occurrences ultimately reside—good luck with those.
